Press Release

Valetta Büyükelçiliği 22.07.2016

The Turkish Embassy would like to inform the Maltese public that after a week of instability, life in Turkey, especially in major cities and vacation resorts, has returned to its normal pace. The State of Emergency which has been declared yesterday, will NOT affect fundamental rights and freedoms of our citizens. In fact public squares in all major cities are packed every night since 15 July with people from all walks of life, in “democracy vigil” manifestations.

Touristic resorts are welcoming foreign guests as usual and Turkish Airlines are operating to its traditional destinations all over the world, including Malta. Enhanced security measures put in effect at Istanbul International airport and other major airports will in no way burden the comfort of travellers.
